Coloproctology is a relatively new trend in surgery, the development of which is an integral part of any medical progress. The Centre of Coloproctology based at Multidisciplinary city hospital №1 is the only specialised centre in Astana involved in the treatment of coloproctological diseases. The centre opened on April 10, 2013 in accordance with Order No 280 issued by the Health Department of Astana. However, colorectal surgery was established some years earlier. One of the coloproctologists in Kazakhstan, Professor Moon NV, has devoted many years to this discipline, and working in the Surgical Department of Multidisciplinary city hospital №1, has created his own school of coloproctologists. Thanks to his leadership, a great number of colorectal surgeons are now successfully working in different regions of Kazakhstan.

The main purpose of the centre is to provide outpatient coloproctology and specialised care for patients with colorectal diseases, as well as care for stoma patients.

Here the patient can get expert advice and take all the necessary tests (functional, radiological, endoscopic, ultrasound, etc), as well as perform the required manipulation under the supervision of experienced doctors and nurses. In the centre there are two wards (male and female) headed by Leonid Tian PhD, a specialist proctologist and member of Colorectal Surgeons, Endoscopic Surgeons, and the Gastroenterology Association in both Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation.
